Another Carnival is fast approaching with this year theme being ‘Dancing In The Park’. This year sees a lot of your traditional favourites with some new stuff mixed in.
Website
We launched a new website last November, with a new address- somershamcarnival.co.uk. The website contains news, details of events, forms to enable you to take part in Events, and contact details plus photos of the 2023 Carnival committee.
Forms
This year has also seen us provide forms which are available to download on the website. We have had a fantastic response to front cover competition and advertising space. We are hoping to see more forms coming in with entries for Country Crafts, the Window Quiz and some exciting events happening on Carnival Day (more on that later).
Events
As well as building a new website, we have also been engaging with the community through our Facebook page. Both the website and Facebook have the updated details of the events on Carnival week as there have been some late changes.
The events itself will kick off on Sunday June 18th with the Country Crafts event. We shall also crown our Carnival Princess and her Royal Attendants. The next three days (Monday-Wednesday) will see Somersham and Pidley people show our competitive sides as we welcome the return of the Darts, the general knowledge Quiz and Pool Competition. Then Thursday night Carnival Bingo is back , promising a high quality night of entertainment.
Carnival Day- Saturday 24th June
Carnival
At 12pm, the Carnival Court will officially open and the stalls will open. Shortly afterwards the walking parade around the field will begin. There will be lots to do before Carnival closes at 5pm.
Events
There will be a lot exciting things to look forward to on the day with high quality music including live acts and a DJ blasting out dancing classics in between! The return of old favourites such as Car Classic Show and Dog Show. Then the last hour will see the anticipated Grand Prize Draw and The Tug Of War contest begin.
Stalls
As ever there has been a lot of interest in the stalls at Somersham Carnival. There will be a lot of excitement as you can browse the quality offerings of Local Traders, from Food to Craft.
